Cancelation policy

What is the cancelation policy?

Every boat listing on sail.me has a defined Cancelation policy, which is meant to protect both the Owners and the Renters. Upon creating a listing, sail.me allows the Owners to choose among three standardized cancelation policies (jump to: Permissive, Balanced, and Stern) which are described fully below. Each boat listing and reservation on our site will clearly state the Cancelation policy. Renters may cancel and review any penalties by viewing their “Trip details” and then clicking the ‘Cancelation policy’ link. Please review these policies carefully as they will determine the conditions and penalties in the case of Cancelation. Use them as a reference to your Trip’s specific Policy (as displayed on your Trip details page under the “Cancel booking” button) as every Owner can choose one of the following:

7 days prior

Reservation start

  • Full refund, excluding the service fee if the renter cancels the reservation 30 or more days prior to the reservation local start time.
  • Partial refund of 60%, excluding the service fee if the renter cancels the reservation between 30 and 7 days prior to the reservation local start time.
  • The renter will receive no refund if he/she cancels the reservation less than 7 days prior to the reservation local start time.

Additional scenarios will apply in case of respective responsibilities originating from the Renter, Boat Owner or the Captain:

  • If the Boat owner requests a Booking cancelation in cases including, but not limited to: inability to provide access to the boat for the reservation, inability to captain the boat, etc., the Renter receives a full refund, including the Service fee, while the Boat owner will not receive any payment. In addition, sail.me will notify all parties - the Owner and the Renter.
  • If the Boat owner / Captain fails to provide access to the boat in cases including, but not limited to: the failure to provide boat keys; miscommunication or listing inaccuracies such as the physical location of the boat, poor functional or presentational features associated with the boat, etc., the Renter receives a full refund, including the Service fee, while the Boat owner and the Captain will not receive any payment. In addition, sail.me will notify all parties - the Owner / Captain and the Renter.
  • If the Captain fails to comply with duties associated with operating the vessel including, but not limited to: the failure to show up at the start time of the rental or a situation in which the Captain arrives unfit to operate the vessel, the Renter receives full refund including the Service fee, while the Boat owner and/or the Captain will not receive any payment. In addition, sail.me will notify all parties - the Owner / Captain and the Renter.
  • If the Renter fails to comply with duties related to the rental check-in including, but not limited to: the failure to show up at the rental start time or a situation in which the Renter arrives with more people than the maximum boat capacity, the Renter will not receive any type of a refund, while all other parties, including the Boat owner / Captain and sail.me, will automatically receive respective payments. In addition, sail.me will notify all parties - the Owner / Captain and the Renter.
  • If the Trip cannot be executed due to Force Majeure such as, but not limited to: bad meteorological conditions, boat malfunctions and/or damages, the Renter should contact sail.me’s Customer support and describe the case in detail. sail.me will contact the Owner to confirm the case and if so, the Renter will receive a full refund, including the Service fee. In addition, sail.me will notify all parties - the Owner / Captain and the Renter.
